Cricket has been hit for six, and the ball is still rising!

Cricket has been hit for six, and the ball is still rising!

Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Ami have been accused of spot-fixing
The three Pakistan cricketers who have been accused of cheating may have caused more damage then they think. They have not only brought their game into question, they have potentially put the whole of sport under the microscope. Gone have the days when an innocent no ball is classed as “innocent”.
Will we be questioning why the goalkeeper made a mistake or why that rugby player missed that tackle? Sport plays a very big part in peoples lives, there is nothing more satisfying then watching your team play, no matter what sport it is you follow. However, when your team is involved in bad publicity it hurts. The Pakistan cricket team has not only hurt the sporting world, it has heavily offended the people back at home. Pakistan has suffered one of its biggest disasters and in a time of grief, aid and help, all they get is “a kick in the teeth”.
Surely this is where professional sports men should be stepping up and making their nation proud. Yet again they fall well short. Sport can unite a country but at the same time it can also ignite anger. In a time of need, where were they?
Lets just hope sport in general can come away from this one.
